Submitting to Prose City Books

Please read this thoroughly and to the end to ensure your manuscript is not rejected.

Fiction

We are currently accepting fiction works from short story to novel length that include science, fantasy, dystopian, cyberpunk, or political elements.

To submit fiction to Prose City, send your manuscript to submissions@prosecity.com with the subject line “{PCB MS} – TitleAuthor” (do not include quotes). If your subject line does not contain {PCB MS} your email will be discarded.

The body of the email must begin with two synopses of your work. Do not include any biographical information in this section or start with a story of how you came upon the idea for the book. The first synopsis should be two to three sentences totaling no more than 150 characters. The second synopsis should be between 200-1000 characters.

Following the synopses you may include biographical details, links to other works, messages to Prose City, or any other relevant information. Your work should be attached as a .mobi, .epub, word .doc, Apple .pages, or .pdf (least preferred, but accepted).

Non-fiction

Prose City Books will accept any journal-length or longer non-fiction works that are thoroughly researched and relating to a discipline of science, sociology, religious studies, or history.

To submit non-fiction, send your document to submissions@prosecity.com with the subject line “{PCB NF} – Title – Author” (do not include quotes). If your subject line does not contain {PCB NF} your email will be discarded.

The body of the email must begin with the abstract of your work. Do not include any biographical information in this section or begin with an explanation of the topic. The abstract should be at least 250 characters.

Following the abstract you may include biographical details, links to other works, messages to Prose City, or any other relevant information. Your work should be attached as a .mobi, .epub, word .doc, Apple .pages, or .pdf (least preferred, but accepted).

No physical copies of fiction or non-fiction will be accepted by mail. If you are in the Portland area and would like to arrange a drop-off, follow the instructions above but put the phrase “PDX local” at the top of your email.
